Fourth Sunday in Lent Meditation   

DISCOVERY  by Blake Duerre

The Lenten season is a time for spiritual discovery and personal growth. In today’s gospel reading, Jesus continues his ministry with the parable of the Prodigal Son. This parable teaches us that not only can we learn from our own mistakes; but we can support others, with love and understanding, who are learning from theirs. This story is a testament to God’s grace and forgiveness.

Like the Prodigal Son, many of us travel the countryside looking to discover the world’s treasures only to discover the treasures we seek are in our own backyard if we but look for them. As part of your own self reflection during this Lenten season, ask yourself: Is paradise a place, or is it a state of mind? 

Soup Suppers are back during Lent

On Wednesday evenings at 5:30 pm, February 17 through March 24. Pull out your favorite recipes and dust off that crock pot. Please come for fellowship and bring soup or bread or dessert to share. Dishes, silverware and beverages will be provided.

How Best to Support UMCOR’s Earthquake Relief in Haiti

Haiti continues to be on our hearts and minds.  We are grateful for the financial contributions to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) to assist Haiti in the earthquake recovery effort.  To help out, you can give online at www.umcor.org and list Minnetonka United Methodist Church in the online form.  The American Institute of Philanthropy, a charity watchdog group, gave UMCOR an A+ rating for its Haiti recovery ministry because of UMCOR’s accountability and efficient use of donations.

  • Sunday mornings at 9:00 and 10:30 am, there is a new discussion series called Expanding our World View.  

Jazz Service

  • Check out the smooth approach to worship with the area's only weekly jazz service.  Sundays each week at 10:45pm.   

 Green Team Tip of the Month:

  • Collect you aluminum cans and place them in the collection trailer in our parking lot.  Help support local mission work while recycling some valuable waste.
