The Legacy Fund of Minnetonka United Methodist Church
The purpose of the Legacy Fund is to fulfill the vision of Minnetonka United Methodist Church by expanding programs and taking advantage of special opportunties, particularly in the areas of education, music, outreach, facilities and leadership.
Donations to the fund either as direct gifts or as part of an estate plan over the past ten years have grown in a dedicated fund. A portion of the earnings are distributed each year to support worthwhile endeavors of the Church.
In past years, the fund has been used to:
- Jump start the Feed 5000 youth program
- Bring in special speakers, like Dr. Barry Baines who provided information on sharing your values through ethical wills
- Upgrading materials in the children's library
- Provide seed money to start the Jazz service
- Help establish the Befriender Ministry
- Purchased sewing machines for the school at UMC of Danli Central, Honduras
- Honorarium for special music guests
- Purchase yarn and postage for the prayer shawl ministry
- Contribute towards permanent landscaping for the church
For 2011, we have $9,000 to distribute. Please contact the church office for an application form. Applications will be considered by the Church Council.
