On October 17, 2010, at a Church Conference the membership of Minnetonka United Methodist Church voted to became a Reconciling Congregation. On that date the following Reconciling Statement was adopted:
The vision of Minnetonka United Methodist Church is to be caring, inclusive and Spirit-filled in all that we do. Our commitment is to follow Christ's example and as a Reconciling Congregation, to welcome persons of all sexual identities and orientations into this faith community.
Going forward, this group will present programs to the church and the community that will promote a better understanding of the challenges faced by members of the GLBT community within the denomination and society. Our church is a member of both:
- The national organization that seeks change in The United Methodist Church known as Reconciling Ministries Network.
- The coalition of Minnesota United Methodist churches working together for change known as the: Minnesota Reconciling Congregations
